David Read

David took up silversmithing on his retirement from a lifetime in nuclear engineering and studied under the late Doug Lincoln at West Dean College.

His main area of expertise is in domestic silver and he likes to think that all his work is useful as well as being attractive. He works mainly in sterling silver but will also make items in Britannia Silver or in the new tarnish resistant alloy known as Brilliante Silver.

David is a member of both the Jewellery and Silver Society of Oxford (JASSO) and the Berkshire Designer Jewellers (BDJ).
